At last, we are ready for new beginnings.  In November 2003, Konnetta King and I joined together to establish Brighter Days.  Brighter Days is a non-profit organization, created with the mission of fostering an environment specifically designed to fulfill the basic needs of youth and empowering them to become productive citizens in society.  Creative Education, Mentoring and Tutoring, Life Skills, Athletic and Personal Development, and our “Fresh Start” Program are the essential components of Brighter Days.  These five components were derived out of a need to assist in preparing our children for a successful and productive future.

Brighter Days is dedicated to implementing these five programs for children ages 7 to 18 and is committed to doing whatever we can to help our youth reach their full potential.  This commitment has proven to be fulfilling and rewarding, while difficult and laborious for my entire family.  Through these experiences, I have not only found and embraced my passion; I have also discovered that Brighter Days is a needed resource for children.  Caring adults play a vital role in the development of children.

Many of our youth grow up deprived of basic tools needed for success in school and adequate skills to advance in today’s society.  I am firmly convinced that by helping our youth fulfill dreams of obtaining education and skills, we will be sowing seeds of kindness and hope for another generation.  By helping we are also giving our youth the gift of social awareness that is necessary to live a full and meaningful life.  Our youth must understand that they are important to us and to the future of the world. 

As we grow as an organization, our staff of volunteers will always work directly with children, so as to never lose touch with our true calling.  We will pursue our mission with a team approach that emphasizes accountability and responsibility to the promises we make to our youth, community, and contributors.

We invite those who share our passion to contribute time and energy and/or financial resources to this cause.  By joining Brighter Days, you will be become a partner in ensuring that our youth have a BRIGHTER TOMORROW.

It is our desire that Brighter Days will not only impact our local community but the state (and eventually the nation).  It is my hope that our programs will have a great impact on the lives of the children in our community and give them necessary tools to succeed as well as hope for a BRIGHTER future.  If this inspires you, I invite you to view our informational brochure and then let us show you first hand some of the work we’re doing to meet the needs of our youth.
